Volleyball: City stars get Scots call-up

SIX young City of Edinburgh players have been given the chance to blaze a trail for Scottish volleyball next month.

Scotland is taking part in the European Junior Women’s Championships for the first time and coach Vince Krawczyk has named half-a-dozen capital players for the trip to Malta on January 13-15.

Gemma Ramsay will captain the team which also includes Edinburgh team-mates Sophie Hunter (vice-captain), Katie Shaw, Naomi Symonds, Katie Sampson and Becky Arthur.

Scotland face Cyprus, Malta and Northern Ireland at the Small Nations event, with the top two qualifying for the final stages.
