Volleyball: City slickers see off Glasgow International with ease

City OF EDINBURGH got their first win in the women's John Syer Trophy by handing Glasgow International another volleyball lesson.

The Scottish champions, who had lost to Su Ragazzi in the opening round of the competition, proved emphatic 25-8, 25-13, 25-11 winners.

It was no surprise as Glasgow had managed to take just 22 points in total when the teams met in the league last month. Edinburgh Jets made it two wins out of two in the competition but had to come back after losing the first set to defeat North Lanarkshire 24-26, 25-20, 25-16, 26-24.

In the men's competition, Edinburgh Jets suffered their first defeat, going down 19-25, 16-25, 22-25 to Kilmarnock Blaze in Ayrshire. There was almost an upset when City of Glasgow Ragazzi, unbeaten in the league this season, found themselves 2-0 down on sets to Dundee, who have not won a match all season.

But Ragazzi turned the tables in style to win through 19-25, 25-27, 25-22, 25-9, 15-11.
