Volleyball: City men chase Syer Trophy

City of Edinburgh chase their first volleyball silverware of the season on Sunday when they face Glasgow Mets in the John Syer Trophy final in Wishaw.

The Scottish champions lost three of their starting six in the summer with French middle blocker Remi Sicsic returning home and setter Gavin Watt and hitter Colin Macnab signing for French clubs.

But player-coach Barry McGuigan brought in Paolo Puggioni (from Edinburgh Jets), George Petrakos (Loughborough University) and Mike Penny (Team Fife). Robin Miedzybrodzki returned from the international beach circuit and he will win his first Scotland cap against England at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall next weekend. Edinburgh's only loss this season has been to Mets.
