Volleyball: City cool Jets’ challenge and extend their lead at the top
Player-coach Barry McGuigan stressed that the trip to St Augustine’s High School was the biggest test of the season but they held firm to win 25-21, 19-25 25-20, 25-12 and keep their unbeaten league record. It leaves them with a great chance of regaining the league title but McGuigan has warned his players they need to “avoid the banana skins” in the weeks ahead.
Jets have enjoyed their best season for some years and a win could have put them top but there was little to choose between the teams in the opening two sets. City, however, took a firm grip after taking the third set to go on and secure an important victory.
