Veteran Smith keeps the goals flowing for Fort

FORT William veteran Victor Smith admits he sets weekly targets at the age of 39 but was a shining light against Kyles on Saturday.

As he did in September’s Camanachd Cup final, the former Scotland captain got on the scoresheet again as Fort sunk Kyles 3-0 in Tighnabruaich.

“I said after last year’s Camanachd Cup final that I would just do what I was told,” said Smith. “If they want me to play, I’ll play. The new manager Peter MacIntyre has been playing me but it can’t be for my ability to get about the park,” he joked.

“Still, I’m feeing fit and I’ve managed to get a few goals. I don’t look any further than the next week.”

Fort’s win on Kyles’ new temporary home makes it a convincing start. They are still chasing Newtonmore, who remained top after a 3-0 win at Bute.
