US Open: Bob and Mike Bryan win record 12th grand slam doubles title

BOB and Mike Bryan won a record-equalling 12th grand slam title together in men’s doubles with victory last night over Radek Stepanek and Leander Paes.

The 6-3 6-4 victory at Flushing Meadows took the American twins past great Australian pair Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde and level with another Australian duo, John Newcombe and Tony Roche, who won the last of their 12 titles in 1976.

The Bryans have now won at least one grand slam title every year since 2005, while this year they added their first Olympic gold medal at Wimbledon.
