Two defeats rules out Scots victory in Hong Kong Sevens

SCOTLAND are out of the running at the Hong Kong Sevens after two defeats in Group C. They did, however, record a fine 14-12 win over France, with Sean Kennedy scoring the decisive try.

The Scots had trailed 12-0 but fought back through tries from James Fleming and Kennedy. An earlier 29-14 loss to Australia allied to Friday’s 39-5 defeat to Fiji proved Scotland’s undoing and they drop into the Bowl competition semi-finals, where they will face the United States. If they beat America they will face Kenya or France in the final.

England beat Kenya and Samoa to set up a quarter-final clash with Australia in the main competition. Wales will face New Zealand in the last eight.
