Trinity make history

TRINITY ACADEMY were today celebrating making hockey history after they became the first state school to win the East of Scotland Knockout Cup.

The Capital school beat Mary Erskine’s 2-1 in the final and will now represent the East of Scotland in the Scottish Finals being held at Peffermill on March 2. Mary Erskine’s had won the trophy for the past three years, beating Trinity in last year’s final.

Goalscorers for Trinity were Lee Pendreigh and Emma Watson, both members of the Scottish Under-18 squad. Fiona McCallum scored for Mary Erskine’s. Coach Ruth Aedy said: "The whole team played exceptionally well and deserved the victory. Mary Erskine were very gracious in defeat."
