Tips: Home in on Tiger at Southwell

Tiger’s Home appears to have found her niche at Southwell and she can make it a hat-trick at the Nottinghamshire venue in the Download The Ladbrokes App Handicap.

The five-year-old boasted just one win in 27 previous starts before Iain Jardine opted to try her on the Southwell Fibresand last month and the Tiger Hill mare soon showed an aptitude for this particular surface.

Racing off a mark of 46, she claimed a very average handicap in good style before doubling up in an apprentice event just over a week later, racing off an improved perch of 51.

She strolled home by seven lengths that day in what appeared to be a competitive heat for its grade and the handicapper has taken a dim view in raising her 11lb for the win.

However, Tiger’s Home appears to have struck up a good partnership with 7lb claimer Kyle Currie and his allowance puts her right back in the frame here.

Northside Prince just lost out at the track last month but can improve on that in the Coral Handicap. He was outpointed by Frosty Berry by half a length, with the winner staying on that bit better when it mattered.

A 4lb rise looks harsh but he has been knocking on the door and his time can come in an event such as this.

Milansbar found a mistake at the last cost him dearly on his fencing bow at Wetherby but compensation awaits in Uttoxeter’s Douglas Family Novices’ Chase.

Neil King’s charge proved more than useful over hurdles last term, placing in Grade Two company at Haydock and landing a competitive heat at Kelso before signing off for the season.

The eight-year-old has always been viewed as a chase prospect, though, so it was no surprise when he was sent off favourite to oblige at the first time of asking at the Yorkshire venue nearly two weeks ago.

He tried to push for home early that day and the pressure likely told when he made a bad error at the last which cost valuable momentum and he had to settle for third. Milansbar likely needed the run and can be expected to improve for that effort.

Tara Flow can build on a promising first run over obstacles in the TBA Mares’ Maiden Hurdle.

Winner of a Newton Abbot bumper last season, she was sent off odds on to remain unbeaten but could only manage second behind the very smart Surtee Du Berlais.

The winner now has some lofty targets so there was no disgrace in chasing her home and she will be unlucky to bump into something as good again.

Colin Tizzard is on a roll at present and his Handy Andy should be suited by conditions in the NJS Handicap Chase at Fontwell.

• Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Annacotty is among 18 horses left in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday at yesterday’s confirmation stage. The seven-year-old was successful on his first start since joining trainer Alan King from Martin Keighley’s team and could now bid to become the first horse to win both races since Exotic Dancer in 2006.
