Tennis: Verdasco faces Nadal in all-Spanish final

A SOLID performance from Fernando Verdasco saw him dispatch top seed Novak Djokovic and set up an all-Spanish final against Rafael Nadal at the Monte Carlo Masters.

Verdasco won 6-2 6-2 in little over an hour and a half following a dismal display from the Serbian world No 2.

The sixth-seeded Spaniard now faces Nadal, whom he has failed to beat in nine previous attempts.

The second seed had produced a clay-court masterpiece to beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-2 6-3 and remain on track to win the title for the sixth time in succession.

The world No 3 broke serve six times to secure a 75-minute success.
