Tennis: Andy Murray bundled out as Gael Monfils homes in on Paris semi-finals

ANDY MURRAY will head back to London today to begin his preparations for the World Tour Finals after his run in the Paris Masters was ended at the quarter-final stage.

The world No. 4 was beaten in three sets by Gael Monfils, who now faces world No.2 Roger Federer in the semi-finals today.

Murray was off-colour in the first set and was broken twice, before finding some rhythm with his serve and taking the second set with a brace of breaks of his own.

Monfils would not be denied in front of his home crowd, though, and broke twice more in the deciding set to take the match 6-2 2-6 6-3.

Murray served well in the second set but was outplayed on the ground for the majority of the match.

The Scot has been struggling with a wrist injury throughout the week and, although there was no strapping on him during the game, he did allude to suffering some problems afterwards. "I just tried to keep the points shortish. It worked in the middle set but didn't really work in the third set as well," he said.

Federer secured his place with a routine 6-1 7-6 (7/4) win over Jurgen Melzer. The other semi-final will be contested by Robin Soderling, who beat Andy Roddick 7-5 6-4 and the unseeded Michael Llodra, who got the better of Nikolay Davydenko 7-5 6-1.
