Taylor sets Leith Athletic tough test starting with Vale

LEITH ATHLETIC manager Eugene Taylor appreciates that, although his club's chances of promotion from the Central Taxis First Division are slim, he is determined that their aim is to win all five of their remaining fixtures.

Leith travel to meet promotion favourites Vale of Leithen at Victoria Park tonight (kick-off 6.45pm), trailing their hosts by ten points and having played one game more.

"If we were to win our last five games then we would be in the mix," said Taylor. "It is a big ask but no matter what, we will have a say in which teams gets promoted.

"We were the better side in our 2-1 win against Gretna 2008 on Saturday. We looked hungrier and I was very pleased with the way my players responded. Vale are unbeaten in the First Division this season and that is the challenge for my players to be the first team to beat them. It would be a great scalp for us and we are all looking forward to the game."

Leith are at full strength with the return of Jamie Lauder while Steven Radzynski is in goalscoring form.

Rab Paget, the Vale manager, said: "I am really excited about tonight's game and all of our players want to be involved in meaningful games. Promotion is in our own hands and our form has improved in the past three or four games.

"There is nothing between Leith and Vale and I think that it will be close tonight with only one goal in it."

Paget has Paul Greenhill back after serving his suspension and Andy Martin is also fit to give the manager pleasant selection decisions with all of his 19-man squad available.
