Taylor handed difficult draw with Brazilian bout

boxing: Josh Taylor has been given a tough draw as he vies to become the first Scottish boxer to take an Olympic title since the legendary Dick McTaggart took the lightweight crown in 1956. The lightweight from Lochend could meet the former Italian world champion Domenico Valentino in the last 16 but only if he can first beat the tricky Brazilian Robson Conceicao tomorrow.

It was a mixed draw for Team GB’s boxing hopefuls. Anthony Joshua, who won silver in the world championships, was drawn against the Cuban Erislandy Savon – nephew of the great three-time Olympic champion Felix Savon – in the super-heavyweight division, while middleweight Anthony Ogogo was paired with Junior Castillo of the Dominican Republic.
