Table tennis: Wheeler puts rivals in a spin

TABLE tennis ace Christopher Wheeler, 13, led Murrayfield 1 to a 7-3 victory over North Merchiston 1 last night in a league clash between Edinburgh’s two leading teams.

Wheeler won his three matches as he dominated his more experienced opponents at Murrayfield Table Tennis Club. Murrayfield captain Colin Dalgleish, 17, won two matches, including a vital victory against top veteran player Willie Mabon. Dalgleish then produced his best form in defeating David Atkins.

Blair Fowler, 15, also contributed an important 3-2 win against Stewart Armitage.
