Swimming: It's double medal glory for Renwick

Scotland's Robbie Renwick, who missed out at the initial World Championship swimming trials in March, had plenty to celebrate when he made it a golden double at the British Gas National Championships in Sheffield.

Renwick had already secured a qualifying time for the World Championships in Shanghai next month when he won the 400m freestyle on Tuesday, and his winning time of 1:47.46 in the 200m distance made sure of a second individual selection slot.

All three medals went to Scots. David Carry (1:49.48) was second again and Jak Scott, who comes from Bo'ness and trains at the ITC Centre in Stirling, finished third in 1:49.58.

The trio were all members of Scotland's 4x200m freestyle relay team that took silver at last October's Commonwealth Games in Delhi and they will be joined in the Shanghai line-up by England's Ross Davenport.

In the 100m freestyle, Scot Caitlin McClatchey collected the bronze medal and the added bonus of securing a World Championship berth in the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Amy Smith took gold in 55.27 - just 0.03 secs outside the individual qualification time - and was closely followed home by Sheffield's Rebecca Turner in 55.52 and Loughborough-based McClatchey in 55.81. They will be joined by Fran Halsall, who has already qualified for the individual place, in the relay team,

Edinburgh University's Kerry Buchan made the final of the 200m breaststroke, but could only finish seventh in the final. But Scot Hannah Miley did manage a bronze medal.
