Swimming: Hannah Miley ready for national title charge

Hannah Miley warmed up in style for the British Gas ASA National Championships starting in Sheffield today by completing a golden double at the Mare Nostrum Tour in Monaco.

The Inverurie 21-year-old headed for Ponds Forge in confident mood after posting a 4:35.89 victory in her favourite 400 metres individual event and following up with a 2:12.69 victory over 200m. In both events, she relegated Zimbabwe's Kirsty Coventry, who won four medals at the 2008 Olympics, into second place. Miley, and fellow Scot Michael Jamieson, have already qualified for the World Championships in Shanghai next month, but the next four days offer a number of Scots the last chance to book a ticket to China.

City of Glasgow's Robbie Renwick, the Commonwealth Games 200m freestyle champion, just missed out on selection at the British Championships in March and will be aiming for individual and relay selection.
