Stylish Star notch first win

Newtongrange recorded their first league win of the season in emphatic style, opening the scoring in only the tenth minute.

A Grant Meaney effort was knocked into his own net by Barry Smith.

Then, in the 23rd minute, they doubled their count with a spectacular effort from Aaron Sommerville. A great cross from Roseburgh beat the defence allowing Sommerville to smash the ball home from ten yards.

They needed another goal to make it comfortable for themselves and it arrived within three minutes of the restart. Meaney outpaced the visiting defence before lofting the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Beath were awarded a penalty but Stephen Bathgate blasted the ball wide with his effort.

With quarter of an hour to go, Scott McCulloch rose high to power a header into the net from a Joe Dunbar corner.
