Stirling get chance of cup upset repeat

ALTHOUGH half the matches in the second round of the Scottish Cup were not played on Sunday because of the poor weather, the draw for the quarter-final stage was made yesterday.

Stirling are eyeing another giant-killing act after being handed a quarter-final tie against West of Scotland. The First Division outfit, who upset Greenock on Sunday, will travel to Hamilton Crescent on 27 June.

The winners of the delayed clash between Carlton and Greenock will host last year's beaten finalists Dunfermline Knights in the tie of the round.

Holders Aberdeenshire must travel to Edinburgh or Uddingston if they beat Heriot's on Sunday, while Stoneywood-Dyce have been handed an excellent chance of reaching the semi-finals after landing a home tie against Corstorphine or Dumfries.

The four outstanding games of the second round will be played on Sunday, and the quarter-finals will then be played on Sunday 27 June, with a reserve date of Sunday 4 July.

Scottish Cup quarter-final draw: Imans Edinburgh or Uddingston v Heriot's or Aberdeenshire, Stoneywood-Dyce v RH Corstorphine or APD Dumfries, Carlton or Greaves Clydesdale v Dunfermline Knights, FS McCrea West of Scotland v Stirling County
