Stirling County joy at beating freeze and Accies

STIRLING County coach Eddie Pollock dedicated the 32-12 triumph over form-horses Edinburgh Accies to the army of volunteers who made Bridgehaugh playable.

The Premier B encounter was the only one to beat the freeze, and Pollock's troops took full advantage to snap up the bonus point and jump to the top of the table.

He declared: "The players and other club members who turned up to put down the frost blanket deserve a huge pat on the back.

"The surface was excellent and I was delighted with the way we performed.

"Having targeted their front five, we dominated the scrums and stopped Accies getting on the front foot.

"Our props Gary Mountford and Mike McDonald were outstanding."

Pollock went on: "We put Accies under a lot of pressure with powerful forward drives and forced a lot of turnovers.

"We were down to 12 men because of two yellow cards and an injury in the last few minutes, but still managed to score the bonus point try, which was a great effort."

Graham Lindsay, Mike MacDonald, Benji Bersanti and Tim Clarke were the County try stars, while Brian Archibald kicked the rest of their counters.

The Accies touchdowns came from Dan Teague and Josh Pecqueur, with Ruaridh Bonner converting one.
