Stew-Mel’s Cringle in quest for cap

An Isle of Man teenager enters National League rugby for Stewart’s Melville at home to Watsonians tomorrow at the start of a journey he hopes could end with a Scotland cap.

Phil Cringle is eligible for any of the home nations but has opted for Scotland and recently became part of Edinburgh Rugby’s elite development squad.

Hopes are high that prop forward Cringle, already capped at under-18 level, can continue progress that saw him gain a sporting scholarship to Kirkham Grammar in Blackpool.
