Stage set for Scots final at Craiglockhart
An all-Scottish tennis final remains a possibility at Craiglockhart’s AEGON Tennis Europe girls’ Under-18 singles this weekend after Edinburgh’s Anastasia Mikheeva and Glasgow’s Anna Brogan reached the semi-finals with straight-sets victories, writes BILL LOTHIAN.
Mikheeva, 13, gave away three years to fellow-Briton Grace Dixon but came through 6-1, 6-4 to book a place today against another wild card entry, Georgina Axon.
In the top half of the draw Miss Brogan, seeded three, was too strong for Blackhall’s Millie Stretton, last year’s under-14 champion, winning 6-3, 6-1 and has only conceded 11 games in three matches throughout as she looks forward to facing another Briton, Jasmine Asghar, who is unseeded.
