Squash: Kempsell stays on target

Edinburgh’s Dougie Kempsell scored a great 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 win over Japan’s Taiki Kaedo to reach today’s final of the boys’ Under-19 event at the Scottish Junior Squash Open Championships at Heriot-Watt University.

The No. 1 seed, Kempsell now faces Pakistan’s Syed Hamzah Shah Bukhari for the coveted title. Rosie Allan (Montrose) also kept up hopes of victory in the girls’ Under-19 championship. The 17-year-old defeated Kirsty Lobban (Inverness) 11-7, 11-3, 11-5 and followed up with an 11-2, 11-3, 11-6 victory over Elspeth Young (Kinross) in the round-robin stage. She now faces England’s Sarah Dowson.
