Speedway: Pair fall flat

Edinburgh Monarchs duo Andrew Tully and Theo Pijper failed to capture the Premier League speedway crown at Somerset’s Oak Tree Arena last night.

They scored 19 points 
between them in Group B but just failed to reach the semi-finals ahead of Scunthorpe Scorpions and host team Somerset Rebels who amassed 25 and 20 points respectively.

Leicester Lions and Workington Comets qualified from Group A. Tully scored 13 of the Capital side’s final tally though Pijper defeated defending champions Glasgow Tigers in heat six. In the semi-final contests Workington overcame Somerset, and Scunthorpe tamed Leicester. Workington pair Adam Roynon and Rene Bach who emerged as the new champions edging out Scunthorpe in a re-run Grand Final.
