South African Kent returns for SMRH

SKIPPER Greg Bissett has admitted he can't wait to see Jon Kent back in the SMRH line-up.

The South African former Saltires player makes his comeback as pro for the Inverleith outfit today as they make the short trip to face Imans Edinburgh.

And Bissett is hoping the all-rounder from Durban will simply carry on where he left off in the wake of his initial two-year stint with the club.

He said: "Jon was a tremendous asset to us in 2003 and the following year. While we don't expect instant miracles from him, the great thing is that he won't really need any settling-in period.

"We have had a see-saw season thus far, however the fact that we have beaten the likes of Corstorphine and West Lothian without any overseas assistance shows that we have the basis of a strong side.

"Having Jon around again can only be a bonus, both on and off the park."

Bissett added: "We had looked at other signing options at the start of the campaign without success. We then decided to focus on Jon and thankfully we managed to cut through the red tape and he has arrived in Scotland."

Pacesetters Dumfries will face their sternest test of the season when they entertain West Lothian, who – in spite of that loss to SMRH – have proved they can compete with the best on their day.

Again, South African pro Kruger van Wyk will be an influential figure for the Linlithgow brigade at Nunholm.

Form-horses Renfrew take on Freuchie on home turf and are likely to start as favourites.

And Corstorphine's woes could deepen as they square up to a Ferguslie unit who are getting more potent by the week.

Weirs v Kelburne at Albert Park is a hard one to call, with visiting pro David Harper shaping up to be the difference between the teams.
