Musselburgh teenager Ross Muir qualified for the quarter-finals of the East of Scotland Snooker Championships in the Bert Demarco Matchroom at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange after a 3-1
defeat of two-times champion Stevie Dick (Edinburgh).

Muir will now meet Corstorphine’s Ross Valance, who beat Paul Cairns by the same scoreline, in the last eight.

Musselburgh’s Craig Hunter will meet Keith Chalmers (Corstorphine) in the first quarter-final on Saturday.

In the other quarter-finals, Bonnyrigg’s Mike Leslie, who beat Edinburgh’s Mike Cameron 3-0 and is still to concede a frame in this year’s event, meets David Greig (Edinburgh), while Kenny Baird (Edinburgh) plays Michael Gallacher (Penicuik).
