Snooker: Jimmy White sets up UK clash with Stephen Hendry

Jimmy White will meet Stephen Hendry in the first round of next week's 12BET.com UK Championship after coming through qualifying. The 48-year-old, who lost to Hendry in four World Championship finals in the 1990s, beat Joe Perry 9-6 to set up a meeting with the Scot in Telford on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Jason Ferguson will remain as chairman of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association following their Annual General Meeting in Sheffield.

In a vote of confidence for the WPBSA, following a difficult year for the sport, all members of the board were retained. Former Metropolitan Police detective chief superintendent David Douglas, six-time World Champion Steve Davis, former referee Alan Chamberlain and Zhang Xiaoning, of the Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association, also keep their positions.

"The board and I welcome this vote of confidence from the membership, which provides us with the stability we need to move forward," Ferguson said.
