Snooker: Fernie sinks Leslie in semi

Bonnyrigg’s Ross Fernie pulled off a major shock last night by beating Michael Leslie 4-2 to reach the final of the East of Scotland Snooker Championship at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Fernie recovered from losing the first frame to win three frames on the trot but Leslie raised hopes of a comeback as he won the fifth on the respotted black and looked likely to level the match when he opened up a 30-point lead in the next.

However, Leslie missed an easy red and let Fernie back into the frame, who eventually defied all odds to win on the black and reach his first East of Scotland final.
