Snoker: Local hope sends Craig home

Craig MacGILLIVARY was knocked out of the IBSF World Amateur Snooker Championships last night, losing 5-3 to local favourite Pankaj Advani of India at the last-16 stage of the event in Bangalore, India.

MacGillivray had started the day well, defeating Sergiy Isayenko (Ukraine) 5-1, with the Granton ace making breaks of 100, 64 and 52 in a comfortable victory. In his last-16 match against Advani, MacGillivray responded to well to a century break from his opponent in the third frame to level the match at 2-2 with a 70 break.

MacGillivray, however, could not recapture the form he showed in the previous round and the group stages of the event, as he lost the next two frames before eventually losing out 5-3.
