Smith gets big chance at Camelon

LINLITHGOW legend Danny Smith is the new Camelon boss, landing the job with the Super League side within a few months of starting his managerial career.

Smith, who ended a 12-year stint at Linlithgow by picking up a third Scottish Junior Cup winner's medal at the end of last season, will be assisted at Carmuirs Park by Alan Moffat, a former Camelon player.

It's an exciting opportunity for Smith, who took over at Kilsyth Rangers at the start of the season, returning to his old club within the past few weeks to take both Keith Hogg and Gary Livingstone on loan.

Camelon, who beat Linlithgow in their last match before the big freeze, have taken their time in appointing a replacement for Stevie Kerrigan following his departure earlier in the season.

And, despite being raw in managerial terms, they couldn't have picked someone with more knowledge of the East Region Junior scene than Smith, who picked up a whole host of trophies as Linlithgow captain over the years.
