Skiing: Capital kids a hit on slopes

Edinburgh-based youngsters Iain Innes and Alasdair Sandland are on a high having returned from the English Children’s Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy, with medals.

Both boys won bronze medals in the Giant Slalom events in their age categories last week, Boroughmuir High School’s Innes in the section for 13 and 14 year olds and George Watson’s Sandland in the section for 11 and 12 year olds.

Given that Innes and Sandland are both in the first year of their respective age categories, picking up medals are great achievements.

Innes competes in the World Schools’ Ski Championships in Italy early next month and the British Championships at the end of March.

Sandland will also be competing at the latter event and will be looking to show off his talents so that he can force his way into the British Children’s Ski team for next season.
