Sir Mark Prescott eyes winning return

Sir Mark Prescott's visits to Musselburgh haven't been as frequent as the halcyon days when he and his now-retired jockey George Duffield used to clean up regularly, but the popular Newmarket trainer returns to the East Lothian course today with a leading chance in the Tradesman's Derby Handicap.

Sir Mark saddles Motivado in the 15,000 mile-and-a-half handicap in the hands of Stevie Donohoe. The progressive three year old is set to carry a 6lbs penalty for his recent win over Taqaat at Ripon, but the manner in which Motivado overcame a slow start and trouble in running to score a shade cosily, suggests that he is definitely on the upgrade and the Newmarket colt should prove too strong in the finish for the in-form Lexi's Boy and the promising Cosmic Moon.

Lost In Paris bids to gain a back-to-back success in the Tartan Trophy, the 12,000 consolation prize for those unlucky sprinters eliminated from tomorrow's Scottish Sprint Cup.

The Tim Easterby-trained speedster showed that he had retained plenty of ability last weekend when a close third over six furlongs at Catterick. Lost In Paris will appreciate the drop back to five furlongs but he may be outsmarted by the well-handicapped Jarrow. Now with Dandy Nicholls, Jarrow hinted at an immediate return to the winner's circle with an eye-catching display on his latest outing at Doncaster.

That race was over six furlongs and Jarrow led a competitive field until headed close home by Silver Wind. Back to the minimum trip, Jarrow will make a bold bid to lead from pillar to post.

Musselburgh have fewer than 2,000 tickets left for the big Edinburgh Cup meeting tomorrow with the 80,000 race luring in punters, so book online to avoid disappointment.
