Shinty: Youth event is part of Co-op cup deal

THE Camanachd Association has announced that The Co-operative has extended its sponsorship of the MacTavish Cup for the 2013 season and will also add a major youth event on the day of the final for primary school pupils.

Through the new partnership, The Co-operative will work with the Camanachd Association on this new initiative to encourage more children to get involved in the sport.

The Co-operative Shinty Festival will offer free, fun taster sessions for Primary School age children at the Co-operative MacTavish Cup on 15 June at Bught Park, Inverness.

“We are delighted to be retaining our relationship with The Co-operative and to be able to develop our partnership to focus on children in the local community,” said Camanachd Association president Archie Robertson.

“Children are our next generation of players and it is important for shinty to reach out and provide opportunities for children and their families to get involved in sport within the local community and develop their passion for our great game.”
