Shinty: Rare Ronald Ross penalty miss helps Kyles

Ryan Borthwick said Kingussie could have left league leaders Kyles out of sight on Saturday and has backed Ronald Ross to shake off his penalty miss.

Kyles mounted a comeback from 2-0 down to take a share of the spoils, on a day Kingussie welcomed back their 1961 Camanacdh Cup winning veterans.

Kings were 2-0 to the good through Fraser Munro and Ross, and could have been three ahead had Ross not missed a penalty.

After that, Kyles managed to take a point through Colin McColl and Rupert Williamson.

However, striker Borthwick knows the penalty miss was a one-off and is confident Ross will be back at his best.

"It was unusual for Ronald to miss a penalty but, to be honest, he took a bad knock just beforehand and I think he was still feeling it a bit.

"However, he will put it behind him very quickly. Since he has come back from injury, he is now nearing his best again."

Kyles remain unbeaten in 2011's league competition.
