Shinty: High-flying Skye breeze through in cup

SKYE Camanachd hit Ballachulish for six yesterday as they opened their quest to win shinty's top prize, the Camanachd Cup.

Skye booked their place in Monday's draw with a fine 6-1 victory. They are still the only island club ever to lift the sport's biggest honour and they will be hoping to avoid the leading lights as the top ten enter the competition.

Sorley MacDonald was their hero with a hat-trick, while an own goal and strikes from Alan MacKinnon and Alan Palmer capped a fine day for the Misty Isle club.

Taynuilt were on the end of a 5-0 reverse against Kimallie in their first ever match in the 103-year history of the competition.
