Shinty: Binnie helps put Newtonmore on top

CAMERON Binnie hopes to play a key part in a glorious season for champions Newtonmore now that he has swapped the North Sea for terra firma.

The centre line player was on target as the champions halted the Inveraray bandwagon on Saturday with a crucial 4-1 away win in the Premiership.

That win took ‘More back to the top of the table, with a game in hand, and Binnie is once again establishing himself as a key man at the Eilan.

“Inveraray have done really well and it was vital we got the points,” said Binnie, who started in the forward line at the Winterton. “It was nice to score as it has been a while since I’ve done that in the Premiership. I am working more locally now and the intention is to play the full season.”

Kingussie beat Kyles 3-2 and Lovat thrashed Fort William 6-0.
