Shane Warne signs off with wicket in final over

SHANE Warne took a wicket in his final over as a professional cricketer yesterday as his Indian Premier League franchise, Rajasthan Royals, beat Mumbai Indians by ten wickets.

The Australian leg-spinner played in four IPL seasons since he retired from Test and first class cricket in 2007, winning the inaugural tournament in 2008.

After leading his team off the field in Mumbai, Warne said: "When I retired in January '07, I thought that's it, I'll sit back and watch the game, but I have had four great years in the IPL. Hopefully, I've helped Indian cricket. You never say never, especially in my life, but I would like to stay involved."

The 42-year-old wasn't able to bow out with a trophy, however, as Rajasthan finished their campaign outside the play-off spots for the final.
