Second Division round-up

VICTORY for relegation threatened East Fife against Stenhousemuir this afternoon would ensure they avoid the Second Division relegation play-off spot. They currently sit three points above ninth place Arbroath and have a vastly superior goal difference. Tenth place Clyde are already down.

The trouble for the Bayview team today is that visitors Stenhousemuir are also able to secure Second Division status with a win, because that would put them on 41 points and leave East Fife and Arbroath on no more than 39 points each – and those two sides play each other in the final match of the season next week.

Stevie Crawford's side have been inconsistent, but recent wins over Brechin and Dumbarton could prove to be vital. Stenhousemuir have won only once in seven matches. As recently as last month John Coughlin's side were eight points clear of the relegation play-off place and only three behind Stirling Albion in the race for the promotion equivalent. While Stirling challenge for the title, Stenhousemuir will be glad simply to stay up.

They will take confidence from the fact that they have produced some impressive away performances this season including victories over Peterhead and Alloa, but they have yet to beat East Fife home or away.
