Scottish duo in mix in US majors

Matthew is within three shots of the lead KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee in Seattle.

And, in the Constellation Senior Players Championship in at Philadelphia Cricket Club Philadelphia, Montgomerie is five behind Bernhard Langer.

Matthew carded a level-par 71 for in her third round to sit tied for 10th on one-over in the second women’s major of the year.

Following a 70, Kiwi world No 1 Lydia Ko leads by one from American pair Brittany Lincicome and Gerina Piller.

Ko is closing in on a third consecutive major, having won the first of her career at the Evian Championship in France in September before adding the ANA Inspiration in California earlier this year.

Montgomerie had a level-par 70 in his third circuit to sit in a share of eighth on three-over.

Langer, the defending champion, carded a 69 to open up a three-shot lead over American Jay Don Blake.
