Scott feels occasion will lift Edinburgh for Saracens visit

EDINBURGH RUGBY star Matt Scott believes the side have the capacity to set aside league woes and rise to the occasion once again when Saracens arrive at Murrayfield on Saturday to help launch another Heineken European Cup.

International centre Scott, 21, who has just agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Edinburgh until the 2015 World Cup, says: “It is impossible not to be slightly more focused for those games with the hype, media attention, more people coming to watch and games on television.”

Scott believes they need to carry on where they left off when at least finishing with a flourish in last week’s defeat by Treviso. He added: “We finished the night playing good rugby and could have nicked the result. Playing at that tempo and intensity against Saracens is vital because a slog and kicking fest, is not the best facet of our game.”
