The Scotsman Rugby Show - Episode 7: Paterson goes back to his roots to regain respect

SCOTLAND’S male record cap-holder Chris Paterson tells this week’s Scotsman Rugby Show what he thinks of his new job after launching ‘core value’ videos drawing on his memories as a young Gala player.

As part of his new work as an SRU ambassador, he was asked to find a way to promote the new SRU core values and has kicked off with ‘respect’, and what he remembers as being key signs of earning respect when developing as a young player at Netherdale.

We try to keep the show short and snappy, but this week we have also managed to pack in the international memories of former Scotland and British and Irish Lions prop Ian McLauchlan, who steps into the Scottish Greats spotlight; another ex-prop Eddie Pollock - now the union’s specialist coaching coordinator - talks about a new push begun under outgoing Director of Performance Rugby Graham Lowe to improve the skills of young Scottish players; and, ahead of a great military tribute at Scotland’s autumn Test with South Africa, we hear from Major Norrie Mackinnon of 1 Scots on how rugby is helping the camaraderie of Scottish soldiers.

We also provide our usual wrap-up of the results from last week’s club and pro rugby - technical gremlins affected this week’s footage, but the tries will be back - and we look ahead to this weekend’s fixtures.
