Scots let leads slip away

SCOTLAND suffered a narrow defeat in their first match under new coach Simon Loftus when they went down 25-16 15-25 31-29 12-25 12-15 to Latvia in their opening match at the Novotel Cup in Luxembourg.

The Scots let their concentration slip at the start of the fourth set to lose a grip on the match and then trailed 1-8 in the final set.

They managed to close it to 8-11 but Latvia pulled away to win.

There was a similar tale in the women's event, with Scotland letting a 2-1 lead slip to lose 18-25 25-22 29-27 21-25 13-15 to Luxembourg.
