Scots fall short against Irish

DESPITE a strong showing from Edinburgh Kool Kats clubmates Becki Allison and Kara Gillies, Scotland went down to a 69-56 defeat at the hands of Ireland in the Euro B Women's Under-18 basketball Championship in Skopye last night.

Falkirk's Mairi Buchan continued her strong form, top-scoring with 17 points and taking 13 rebounds but Allison was close behind her with 15 points and seven rebounds and Gillies added ten including eight from ten from the free throw line.

Scotland now face Belgium in their final group game later today.
