Scotland U18s 8 - 20 England U18s: Wee Scots put up resilient show

Scotland Under-18s revealed their defensive strength with a display of determined tackling against their English counterparts at Mansfield Park.

“This was another great defensive effort,” said Scotland coach, Eddie Pollock.

Pollock will take 23 players to Ireland for the Scots final match before next month’s FIRA tournament in Madrid. Almost certainly ruled out is scrum- half Ramsay Young, who was forced to retire with a suspected broken hand. He was replaced by Strathallan’s Murdo McAndrew.

Despite England’s dominance, they only led by 8-3 at half time. The visitors extended their lead with a second- half try from Moriarty before Scotland replied through Lawrie-Mackenzie. England made sure of victory with a final try from Joel Conlon.
