From schools meet to Olympic Games

SWIMMING: Craig Benson (James Young High School) featured in this column in December when he won the top boy award at the West Lothian Schools’ Championships.

The 17-year-old achieved a rather headier goal on Sunday when he qualified for the Olympics at the British team trials at London’s Aquatics Centre. It is amazing to think that Craig was just ten when London was awarded the Summer Games. Now he will be competing in front of the world this summer in the 100m breaststroke.
