School sports: Hundreds compete in primary Games

SCHOOL SPORT WEEK: More than 750 pupils from East Lothian were part of a mass participation event as they celebrated Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week with their own primary school Olympic Games – and they were joined on the special day by Scotland’s Minister for Public Health and Sport Shona Robison MSP.

Seven out of ten schools in Scotland participated in the event, which was part of the drive to whip up excitement ahead of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, now just five weeks away.

Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week, delivered in partnership with sportscotland – the national agency for sport – marked Scotland’s biggest school sporting event.

As well as pupils being given the chance to try new sports and take part in special events, the week also coincided with the Scottish leg of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
