Russell Anderson joins Derby on short-term contract

DERBY County have signed former Aberdeen and Sunderland defender Russell Anderson.

He joins on a free transfer after having had his contract cancelled at the Stadium of Light by mutual agreement.

Anderson has put pen to paper on a contract until June and is in contention to make his debut against Peterborough today.

The 31-year-old joined the Black Cats in a 1million deal from Aberdeen in 2007, having racked up over 300 appearances, and heads to Pride Park with Championship experience under his belt after loan spells with Plymouth and Burnley in recent times.

Anderson had been linked with moves to Hibernian and Aberdeen.
