Run-in keeps Broxburn on tenterhooks

BROXBURN manager Steve Pittman will wait on the phone call to see if it will be party time for him and his players tomorrow night.

Pittman's team have finished their campaign in the ACA Sports East Premier League and must now wait and see if they've done enough to go up into the Super League.

Broxburn are sitting in the second of the two promotion spots at present on 41 points but can still be overtaken by either Carnoustie Panmure and Glenrothes.

Those two sides meet in a crunch clash in Fife tomorrow with Glenrothes then entertaining Penicuik in their final game next weekend.

A draw tomorrow would be enough to see Broxburn go up, but Pittman won't be putting himself through the agony of watching that game.

"I believe some of players and committee members are going to it but I'm going to do something else," he said. "In fact, I'll probably go and watch the Bo'ness v Linlithgow game and wait on the phone call."

A win for Carnoustie will be good enough for the Angus side while Glenrothes need to win both of their matches to pip Broxburn.

"They are must-win games and that puts the two of them under pressure and, even if Glenrothes win tomorrow, they'll be against a form team in Penicuik next weekend," added Pittman.

"We've done all we can now. We had chances for it to be in our own hands but, unfortunately, we were unable to take them.

"Now we've just got to wait and see what happens but, no matter the outcome, I think we've had a great first season in the Premier Division.

"The players have given me 100 per cent and I have also been given great backing by the committee, so I can't ask for any more.

"Of course I'll be disappointed if we don't go up. But, at the same time, we'll have given ourselves something major to build on for next season."

In tomorrow's other game, Arniston bring down the curtain on their campaign at home to Broughty Athletic.
