McInnes may have to quit
Derek McInnes may have to resign as Aberdeen manager if he’s interested in becoming the next boss at Rangers. Yesterday the Ibrox club had a compensation offer thrown out by their Ladbrokes Premiership rivals, who are hell bent on not allowing McInnes to move to the Glasgow side. However, the 46-year-old is said to be keen on meeting with the Ibrox hierarchy and could rip up his own contract to make it happen. (Daily Record)

Celtic lead chase for Morgan

Hide AdBrendan Rodgers is poised to make an offer to St Mirren for highly rated winger Lewis Morgan when the transfer window opens next month. A host of clubs are said to be monitoring the 21-year-old, who will see his current contract expire at the end of the season. Scotland to make O’Neill move
Scotland will step up their chase of Michael O’Neill this week. The SFA have identified the 48-year-old as their preferred candidate to take over from Gordon Strachan and have already been granted permission to speak with him by the Irish FA. Ross tipped for Aberdeen
Jack Ross would be the ideal candidate to replace Derek McInnes at Pittodrie should the current boss leave for Rangers, according to former fans favourite Neale Cooper. Ross has oversaw a dramatic turnaround in Paisley, taking over a side rooted to the bottom of the Ladbrokes Championship and turning them into serious promotion contenders in less than a year. Brendan Rodgers admitted it was difficult to feel any pride in Celtic’s qualification for the last 32 of the Europa League after they finished their Champions League group stage campaign with another home defeat. Hearts sweat over Djoum fitness
Hearts are awaiting scan results to determine the extent of a knee injury to midfielder Arnaud Djoum. Manager Craig Levein expects to learn the outcome today but is fearful that one of his key players may be sidelined. Djoum ended Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Hamilton Academical with fluid on his knee and was sent for a scan yesterday afternoon. Fontaine fit again after injury
Liam Fontaine has given Neil Lennon an early Christmas present by telling the Hibs boss he’s ready to fight for his place after a seven-month injury nightmare. After tearing a ligament from the bone in his left ankle in February which effectively ended his season, the big defender suffered exactly the same injury in his right ankle in early September in a freak accident while playing for the club’s development side.
