Veterans lacing up boots again
Now in its sixth year, the over-35s event has become a popular prelude to the Melrose Sevens with the main event taking place at the Greenyards tomorrow.
Twelve months ago Islay Star, who at the time featured former Scotland players Gregor Townsend and Gavin Kerr, won the tournament. They are back to defend their crown while the Melrose team, which Islay saw off in the final in 2012, will be keen to get one over on them this time around.

Of those, the Crusaders are worth keeping an eye out for. They will feature many former top-flight Scottish players and aim to increase knowledge of male cancer.
The teams are split into three pools of three with a Bowl and a Plate event too, ensuring everyone is involved all day. Entry is free with the first match at noon.
