The home strip is modelled on the shirts Scotland donned at the last Rugby World Cup, which SRU called “highly popular”, with a couple of subtle changes.

The latest tops have a white stripe across the shoulders and a white collar on what is a predominately navy blue top. There are also tartan elements under the collar and around the waist.

The alternate kits are of a similar design to the tops worn by Scotland in the late 90s: mainly white with navy blue horizontal pinstripes.

The kits will go on sale next week.

Dominic McKay, Scottish Rugby’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “Following on from the hugely successful RWC 2015 kits, Macron have designed and manufactured home and alternate kits for our national teams which we are confident will prove to be a hit with both players and fans alike.

“We tasked Macron to produce designs which reflect our rich history whilst having a modern look – there is no doubt they have achieved this and we are delighted with the result.”
